Report: Former Tennessee AD John Currie lands new Power 5 AD job
By Adam Spencer
Published:
Last offseason, Tennessee AD John Currie was removed from his position after he struggled to find a new football coach for the Vols.
He was replaced by former football coach Phillip Fulmer, who ended up hiring Jeremy Pruitt to lead the football program.
Now, though, it appears Currie is landing a new job. Per FootballScoop.com, Currie will be the new athletic director at Wake Forest:
Wake Forest athletic director Ron Wellman is retiring and former Kansas State and Tennessee athletic director John Currie is being tabbed to take over, the school has announced. Wellman has led the Wake Forest athletic department since 1992. David Glenn was among the first to report the news.
Wake Forest is an ACC program, so Currie will be back in the Power 5 after a couple of years off.
How he fares there remains to be seen, but he’ll be back on a big stage soon.
