Tennessee is adding Troy director of operations/high school relations Todd Watson to its staff, according to a report from FootballScoop.

The website updated its “scoop” on Saturday to reflect the Volunteers’ new coaching staff change.

Watson and Vols head coach Jeremy Pruitt apparently coached together at Hoover High School in Alabama.

Watson was the defensive coordinator and Pruitt was the special teams coordinator at the time, the FootballScoop report noted.

“After serving on the staff at Hoover High (where he was part of 4 state championship teams in 5 years), Watson served as head coach at Foley High for 10 seasons where his former players include Julio Jones and DJ Fluker,” the report said.

He compiled an 80-36 record in 10 seasons as the head coach at Foley, Troy’s football website noted.

Sources apparently told FootballScoop that Watson’s title at UT is likely to be “director of football operations” — or something similar.

Watson had been at Troy for the past three seasons.

Justin McNelley of WDFX/WSFA is also reporting that Watson is headed to Tennessee after speaking with Troy head coach Neal Brown:
