Though spring practices have just begun in Knoxville, the Tennessee Volunteers have lost a junior safety.

According to a report on Twitter, Stephen Griffin will not be with the football team this fall:

In limited action in 2015 and 2016, Griffin appeared in 19 games, recording 18 total tackles. He made his one and only career start against Vanderbilt in 2016, picking up two tackles.

Griffin was a 3-star recruit in the class of 2015. What the North Carolina native plans to do now that he’s no longer with the Vols remains to be seen.
