Sophomore G Yves Pons has been a big part of the Tennessee Volunteers this year, starting 13 of the team’s 22 games as the Vols have risen to the No. 1 spot in the AP Poll.

However, Pons will reportedly become the next Vol to miss action due to an injury, as 247Sports is reporting that he’ll be out Saturday against Florida.

Per the report, Pons suffered a facial injury during practice on Thursday and had to have surgery:

Yves Pons will miss Saturday’s game against Florida after undergoing facial surgery Friday afternoon. The sophomore wing, who will be reevaluated before next week’s games against South Carolina and Kentucky, was injured late in practice Thursday at Pratt Pavilion, after incidental contact with a teammate during a play.

Pons recently lost the starting job to Lamonte Turner, but he’s still a key part of the Vols’ rotation.

In 22 games, Pons is averaging 3.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in 15.7 minutes of action, on average.
