Report: Tennessee WR Jauan Jennings recently arrested for drug possession
National Signing Day is a day universally celebrated in college football. However, the date brings some bad news for Tennessee as junior receiver Jauan Jennings was reportedly arrested recently after being cited for drug possession.
This news comes via WATE ABC. According to the local Knoxville ABC affiliate, Jennings was arrested on Jan. 15 for “simple possession/casual exchange” near campus. The charge is considered a misdemeanor.
Jennings is most known for his Hail Mary game-winning touchdown catch against Georgia last season in the improbable 34-31 win in Athens. Beyond that highlight, Jennings has developed into one of Tennessee’s most outstanding returning offensive players in his two seasons on Rocky Top. Jennings caught seven touchdowns as a sophomore along with 40 passes for 580 yards and earned the reputation as one of the team’s most fierce players.
No word yet from Tennessee regarding any possible punishment, but you can expect that will be coming soon.
I guess he’ll be suspended the first half of the spring game huh?
Should we kick him out over weed? Worry about your Dawgs.
Don’t worry. You have a ton of 3 stars to back him up.
Yeah. Its nothing to write home about for sure.
Don’t worry, half of Georgia’s signing class will be suspended for most of their careers for knocking over a star bucks or something.
Wait. They were protesting at the inauguration?
Still upset that he beat you guys last year?
Exactly what gives you the idea that Butch gives them a slap on the wrist? He kicks players off the team immediately after being “accused” of rape. Saban is the one you’re thinking of. Possession of a stolen gun on his team gets you maybe half a quarter suspension…..
nope, don’t even get that..
Not as high as he was when he caught that hail mary pass…
***3-atar bUTch to the rescue!
Priceless that a bammer would throw shade on a SEC school concerning drug possession!
Hey PIGLIPS… When do you get your recruiting car?
#ProbationChampsTide
what a shame., If he would only had a stolen hand gun, he could have gotten off scot-free..
This is a minor offense. It should be completely up to the coach and school on how they handle it. There doesn’t need to be a suspension for a kid to be disciplined.
Lifelong UT fan and I have 2 degrees from UT. Very proud of my school and our team. But there needs to be a stop to this. It’s not up to an individual to decide which laws they will adhere and which they won’t. It doesn’t matter if you agree with said law or not. It’s like the helmet law for bikes. Some states require it and some don’t. I think it’s a personal choice but when I drive in helmet states I wear it because it’s the law. Kids have to know there are consequences to breaking the law and it should be punishment enough to matter.
Criminal charges and the punishment you receive on the team are two entirely separate things. He broke the law. He will be punished by the state for breaking that law. He appeared in court already. He’s on notice not to do it again. If Butch feels that this offense does not warrant a serious punishment, then that’s that. He doesn’t have to be harshly punished. Criminal laws and private conduct are separate issues.
He will be forced to give up his Champion of Life ring…
You can take the kid outta Murfreesboro but can’t take the Murfreesboro outta the kid. M-Town ganstas!!! Roll Tide
great. we all really needed more Bama trolls.
I thought I smelled corn dogs
If you boys really did research you’d know that he wasn’t actually arrested. He was given a citation and then had to book himself. No “arrest” was made. SDS do your research next time before you try to make something and someone worse than they already do.
Here is your punishment.
1. Write off 25 times “I am a 5-star, not a 3-star”.
2. Run 3 laps around UT Track.
3. Report to Spring practice all is good.
