Tennessee announced on Tuesday that two defensive linemen, Dimarya Mixon and Charles Mosley, are no longer part of the football team.

Mixon, a former 3-star defensive tackle in the class of 2013, appeared in 37 games over the past three seasons, recording 19 total tackles, including 3.5 for loss and a sack. He was also responsible for 2 pass breakups and 3 quarterback hurries.

Mosley, a 4-star defensive tackle in the 2014 class, was originally an offensive lineman for the Vols, but switched back to defensive line in 2016 to provide depth. He appeared in four games off the bench in 2016 as a redshirt sophomore.

The two remain enrolled in classes at UT.

  • If things aren’t going your way you might as well quit!!

  • Mixon left the team a few weeks back, not surprised about Mosley seeing how little he saw the field. I remember when he came in he was really strong but strength doesn’t equal automatic success, especially in the SEC when you go against man other very strong athletes.

  • Good heavens… and this is just the beginning, as Butch Jones is also set to announce that Shy Turtle and Khalil McKenzie will leave the team shortly for their mission trips to the local Bojangles. Turtle will reportedly order 6 sausage biscuits with gravy while McKenzie sources say that McKenzie will simply ask for a tub of butter to rub on himself while singing “my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.”
