UT Police Department to assist gameday in Gainesville Saturday
It looks like Florida will have a few extra hands to help out on gameday this Saturday.
It was announced on Tuesday that Saturday’s game between Tennessee and Florida will continue as planned with a 3:30 pm EST kickoff time in Gainesville. The status for the game had been up in the air due to the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, but it appears the damage was not enough to force a postponement.
Nevertheless, police and first responders will be quite busy this week as they assist those impacted by Irma. The good news is that authorities in Gainesville will have some extra assistance on Saturday.
A Florida alum reported on Twitter that the University of Tennessee Police Department would be dispatching a number of officers to help out for the game on Saturday:
Brother (UTPD) says half the department is going down to Gainesville to help with the game. Teamwork makes the dream work guys ❤️

Irma has left behind a bad situation for many, but it is good to see the UTPD respond positively as Floridians try to get back on their feet.
