Tennessee picked up a major boost to its recruiting class on Thursday afternoon.

4-star defensive linebacker Dylan Brooks announced he has signed with the Vols.

This is a major addition to Tennessee’s 2021 recruiting class. According to 247Sports Composite rankings, Brooks is the No. 51 overall player in the 2021 class and the No. 3 weak side defensive end.

Here’s a breakdown of Brooks’ play from Tennessee:

It’s currently unclear why Brooks’ decision is being announced now, as the Early Signing Period is over. It’s possible he signed during the Early Signing Period but chose not to announce the news until today.

Tennessee’s recruiting class is up to No. 15 nationally and No. 6 in the SEC, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. That’s a solid recruiting class for Jeremy Pruitt to bring in, especially after the Vols struggled throughout much of the 2020 season.

National Signing Day is on Feb. 3, 2021.
