Tim Jordan did his best John Kelly impression in Saturday’s 40-14 loss to West Virginia, one highlight in a disappointing opener for Tennessee.

Jordan, a sophomore, generated 118 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries, with two catches for 11 yards. But it was that grinding style that set him apart from other running backs around the country. Jordan’s production was most of what Tennessee did as a team, which amounted to 165 yards rushing on 38 carries.

Jordan was recognized by Pro Football Focus for having the most missed tackles forced with 12 after the first full day of college football this season.

The 5-foot-11, 196-pounder looked for contact once he cut back through the West Virginia secondary, and often got the better of the opponent.
