Three-star cornerback Ugo Amadi announced his commitment date Saturday via Twitter.

Amadi ranks as the No. 30 cornerback for the 2015 recruiting class and No. 11 prospect from the state of Tennessee. The former Overton standout announced his decommitment from Ole Miss in December after taking an official visit to Knoxville, as well as in-home visits from coaches Tommy Thigpen and John Jancek in November.

“Coach Butch Jones told me that he needs a nickel back because (Justin) Coleman will be graduating so he wants me to come in early,” Amadi told 247. “And just because I’m graduating early that can be a good thing for me so that I can learn the playbook and be ahead in class. As well and he wants me to be the punt returner because he knows Cam Sutton is always gassed whenever he’s back there so he is always fair catching it so I can come in and make a big impact on that.”

Amadi also talked about his recruitment to LSU.

“Coach Les Miles came to my school and he told me he took his first flight here to Tennessee,” Amadi said. “He told me that he wanted me to do special teams more importantly and then I’m going to work my way into cornerback.”

Amadi plans to be an early enroll at whichever college he chooses.
