Takeo Spikes has seen what Josh Heupel has accomplished on Rocky Top already in his 1.5 seasons with Tennessee and has been impressed.

The Vols are 6-0 on the season and just upset Alabama last weekend. Entering this week’s matchup against UT Martin, Spikes spoke about the Tennessee coach on the SEC Network.

As you can see below, he offered a ton of praise for Heupel coming into a bad situation and making the most of it very quickly:

“This is the end result, guys. I want to make that clear,” Spikes said. “I think it goes back to the year before he got there. The NCAA put sanctions on the Tennessee program. Number 2, he had 12-15 players decide to transfer and go to other places and be starters. But he had to deal with what he had. And ultimately, what this really came down to was Heupel’s leadership and his message.”

Spikes then goes into more detail about what exactly that means for Tennessee. Will the Vols’ magical season continue? We’ll see what happens moving forward!
