Tennessee AD candidate reportedly won't be landing the job
All of Vol Nation is eager to know who will become the next full-time head coach at Tennessee (Kevin Steele is currently the interim coach in Knoxville) but before that decision can be made, the program needs an athletic director with Phillip Fulmer no longer filling that role on Rocky Top.
While Tennessee has not officially announced any candidates to be the school’s next AD, ECU AD Jon Gilbert and UAB AD Mark Ingram are the two names most associated with the opening in Knoxville.
Both men previously worked in the athletic department at Tennessee under former AD Dave Hart.
Now comes word from Stephen Igoe, who covers ECU for 247Sports, that Gilbert will not be Tennessee’s next AD.
“Sources: ECU athletics director Jon Gilbert informed interim chancellor Ron Mitchelson on Wednesday that he is not involved and will not be involved in the AD search at Tennessee,” Igoe shared on Thursday morning.
Read into this what you will, but if Gilbert isn’t in the running, that could mean Tennessee is closing in on its next AD hire — something that is expected to take place sooner rather than later.
Thanks Michael but I wont be reading anything into anything until it happens if I can keep myself from it. Waaayyy to often those readings are totally wrong.
We just hired a DC no one saw coming so understand.
Hey Mike, if you want another article to write…for the record I won’t be involved in the AD position or AD search either…
Tennessee is going to have to buck up to get the right AD for the job. Mark Ingram is interesting. How connected to Fulmer is he, having played for him? That would be downside for me. I like Phil but he’s had his nose in UT since he was removed and maybe he hasn’t helped things.
Danny White from UCF is our next AD. Not to be confused with the ex Dallas Cowboys QB Danny White
Ahh, so y’all got the Danny with the National Championship on his resume, very nice!
UGA can’t even claim a fake one in the last 30 years.
Lol
A hire that best comes soon but in my humble opinion has an interim solution for at least 30 days and it could be much longer.
whoo, that was fast, hmmm Danny White
No pressure from the President at all, lol
