Jauan Jennings is not back on Tennessee’s roster, at least not yet. Despite his Instagram post from last week indicating he was officially back on the roster, Tennessee Athletic Director Phillip Fulmer stated Wednesday morning that that was not the case.

However, that being said, Fulmer stated that Jennings is on his way to earning his place back on the roster. How so? According to Fulmer, who spoke with former UT receiver Jayson Swain Wednesday on his daily radio program The Swain Event, head coach Jeremy Pruitt has outlined specific criteria that Jennings needs to accomplish in order to rejoin the program.

According to Fulmer, Jennings knows what he has to do to return. Now it’s on him to prove he really wants to return.

Here’s what Tennessee’s AD had to say about Jennings:

“In Jauan’s (Jennings) case, Coach Pruitt decided that he’s going to give him this list of things to do,” Fulmer said on the show. “And if he does those things, you know, like counseling things with anger management, other kinds of things, then he will have earned the right to try to be a Vol. And if he doesn’t, he can’t blame anybody else but himself. I’m hopeful that he does it as a young person. He has a wonderful mom and dad, he certainly has good guidance here and help that’s available but that’s available to any of our guys.”

Fulmer also discussed the issue of giving players second and sometimes third chances dating back to his days as the Tennessee coach. While every individual case is unique, Fulmer noted how the program typically did not publicize these events when he was the head coach as social media tends to do in today’s world. Jennings certainly didn’t do himself any favors in that regard, publicly stating his displeasure with the previous coaching staff on his own social media account leading up to his dismissal.

With that behind him, Jennings now has an outline of what it will take to return to the locker room in Knoxville. If he truly wants it, the path is there for him. Now it’s up to him to prove how bad he needs football.
