Tennessee AD Phillip Fulmer releases statement on SEC's decision to suspend Jauan Jennings
The Tennessee Volunteers were surprised to learn that WR Jauan Jennings had received punishment for a sideline incident during the Vanderbilt game.
Jennings will be suspended for the first half of whatever bowl game Tennessee ends up in this postseason.
After learning of the suspension, Tennessee AD Phillip Fulmer issued a response, praising Jennings’ character:
Phillip Fulmer issued this response:
“Commissioner Sankey shared his perspective on the actions in question, we had a long conversation about the matter, and we will honor the suspension.
“Jauan has been nothing but outstanding for our team and program this entire season.” https://t.co/6gZ4yiCE8r

If you haven’t seen the incident in question, video can be found here.
Jennings is likely disappointed to have to miss half of his last game in a Tennessee uniform, but it’s safe to say he’ll be motivated in the second half against whatever team the Vols end up playing.
3 tds 250 yds in 2 half. GBO
I just don’t think it sets a good precedent to assume intent in this particular incident. I see very well how we can assume some intent, but there are many factors at play. To be honest, I believe that JJ may have ripped the helmet off the Vandy kid, which I think looks worse than the step which grazed the kid. The step was the result of him aggressively getting up in a crowd while he is being pushed from behind.
The Pickens situation is far worse and if JJ’s actions deem 2 quarters are necessary, I would think Pickens deserves a game (yes, in addition to the garbage quarter and a half he missed in the Ga Tech blow out). There’s no way these are equitable.
I hope JJ has a big second half!
Total BS. It was NOT intentional, obviously.
if Jauan would have been on Vandy’s roster, we all would have been screaming for his head… I am glad it’s on the first half…
I am glad it’s onLY the first half…
Just curious, did anything happen to Raekwon Davis when he punched the Mizzou player after making the tackle?
I guess one half is better than the entire game.
Shame for him that he can’t play the entirety of his final game. Great player. I feel like he’s been at Tennessee since Johnny Majors was the coach.
That #15 has been on some memorable players. Carl Pickens and Kelley Washington now Jennings
Strange, I live in Tenn and every fan I have talked to said they were disgusted by his actions. On here, there must be every ultimate homer in the UT universe posting.
As for the RD question, Saban suspended him for the 1st half of the next game. UT fans sound like kindergarden kids. “well, what about Johny, he threw a paper wad first, why isn’t he suspended.” Reaching a bowl by beating 3 whole teams with winning records, including a garbaage UAB team, seems rewarding enough.
That is a poor attempt at pretending. Good luck with your cousin tonight.
Stepping on someones head is pretty shameful, last game or not. No UT fan can say or know that he didn’t mean it, or it was an accident because he was pushed from behind. You don’t know what was going thru his mind at that very moment. You get caught losing your cool you pay the price. Sitting out a half seems light for cleating a forehead. Anyway, good luck in the bowl game, go SEC
