Tennessee basketball is fresh off its first SEC Championship since 1979. They beat arch-rival Kentucky on the way to the title, too.

The team made sure the Wildcats faithful remembered that Saturday night when the Vols football team took on Kentucky at Neyland Stadium. During a commercial break, the Vol Hoops team was brought out on the field with their trophy. Surely, just a coincidence.

The team took an extended amount of time to wave to Kentucky fans on their way out.

Now Tennessee basketball has been in the shadow of Kentucky all-time, but the past few years has been all Tennessee. The Vols are 7-3 over the Wildcats in the last 10, including 2-1 last season.

Basketball season is right around the corner. Tennessee hosts Tennessee Tech on Nov. 7 while the Wildcats will face off against Howard out of the MEAC.

For what it’s worth, Tennessee football is up 27-6 over the Wildcats at the half.
