Tennessee DB/WR reportedly enters NCAA transfer portal
A veteran wide receiver could be leaving Rocky Top.
247Sports is reporting that Tennessee junior defensive back/wide receiver Kenney Solomon has entered his name into the transfer portal. Players are not technically bound to leave the program after entering their name into the portal, though cases of SEC players withdrawing from the portal and returning to the team are becoming increasingly rare. Now that Solomon’s name is in the portal, he can be contacted and recruited by other teams.
Solomon was a 3-star cornerback in the class of 2019 with 23 scholarship offers, though his UT bio notes he initially joined the program as a walk-on, earning a scholarship in November 2019.
He appeared in all 10 games of Tennessee’s 2020 season, contributing primarily on special teams, and 11 games of the 2019 campaign. Solomon’s UT bio says he switched positions during the open week of the 2020 season. He recorded his first-career rush in the Volunteers’ win at Vanderbilt. As a defender, he had two tackles and an interception.
