Tennessee fans fire back at SEC's statement with same response
Tennessee fans were not happy on Saturday night, particularly down the stretch of a 31-26 loss to Ole Miss.
At issue? Ole Miss players seemingly faking injuries to catch their breath as the Vols offense marched down the field trying to score the game-winning touchdown.
So, when a 4th-and-24 catch was ruled just short by the officials, and upheld upon review, tensions boiled over and fans started throwing trash on the field and at the Ole Miss coaches and players on the sideline.
The SEC issued a statement on the ugly incident on Saturday night after the game:

But, Tennessee fans weren’t having it. Many took to Twitter to push back against what they felt was bad officiating:

I don’t agree with throwing things but I also think you should punish your referees who make horrible calls

Please explain how this ref had the authority to spot the ball? pic.twitter.com/AxufmCASix

Now do the officiating and let us know the punishment you hand down to the officiating crew.

Any word on faking injuries?

Ok lol so we gonna put make a rule about teams faking injuries. Lane Kiffin has done it the past 3 games. It's called cheating, teams are given 3 timeouts for a reason. That why the game took 4 hrs.

That was pretty classless by UT fans. However we want to fine coaches for speaking against refs, speak out against fans for throwing stuff on a field but ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY for bad officiating. Make them have a press conference after every game so they explain their calls

Address the terrible officiating and ole miss players faking injuries and cramps on a 48 degree night

Of course, even if Ole Miss players were faking injuries, and even if it was a bad spot on the fourth-down play, what Tennessee fans did was still unacceptable.
That’s no way to act at a sporting event, and we’ll see if the league punishes the Vols further.
