Tennessee fans thank Kentucky for (possibly) ending the Butch Jones era in Knoxville
Tennessee lost to Kentucky on Saturday night for just the second time in the last 33 years.
Mark Stoops’ Wildcats took out Butch Jones’ Volunteers 29-26 in a late-game thriller.
The Volunteers’ last loss to the Wildcats was a 10-7 defeat under Derek Dooley in 2011, which at the time, caused many UT fans to think the end was near for their former head coach.
This one feels eerily similar.
Vol Twitter (and plenty of other folks around the country) reacted to the embarrassing defeat in Lexington. It’s safe to say the majority of Vols fans are ready to see Jones ousted.
It’s also safe to say that many fans didn’t mind seeing their team lose, sadly:
Thank you, Kentucky. Butch Jones is officially gone. Biggest win of year for Vols.

Tennessee is now 0-5 in the SEC in Butch’s 5th year.
2nd loss to Kentucky since 1985.
If that doesn’t do it, what will?

Kentucky here to rip the hearts out of Tennessee fans. Or help them. I mean, it could be a public service.

The story of the Butch Jones era at Tennessee. Hail Mary falls just short of the end zone. Close only counts in horseshoes. A fitting end?
