Vol Nation’s long nightmare will soon be coming to an end.

The process of taking down the photo of Butch Jones from the back of Neyland Stadium’s jumbotron is expected to begin Monday, March 5. News of Tennessee (finally) taking action to remove the photo was first reported by Knoxville’s CBS affiliate WVLT Channel 8.

Considering Jones was relieved of his head coaching duties over 100 days ago, the fact that his photo remains on the stadium has caused some angst among the Tennessee fan base. Reports of Jones possibly joining Nick Saban’s Alabama staff didn’t help either.

Imagine how bad of a look it would have been for UT’s program to have a low-level Alabama assistant coach immortalized on Neyland Stadium’s jumbotron.

It appears that possibility won’t come to fruition, as the university has finally decided to take action and move on from the Jones era once and for all.
