Tennessee trailed Kentucky 10-7 in the third quarter when quarterback Brock Vandagriff was sacked and fumbled the ball at the Kentucky 28. From there, the Vols turned 2 takeaways into 2 touchdowns to completely flip the game and take a lead into the fourth.
On the fifth play after the Vandagriff fumble, Dylan Sampson ran in from 7 yards out to push Tennessee into the lead, 14-10. With less than 6 to play in the third quarter, Vandagriff had to be replaced by Gavin Wimsatt. After driving inside the Tennessee 30-yard-line, Wimsatt was picked off by Will Brooks, who nearly housed it.

Brooks returned the ball to the Kentucky 10. Two plays later, UT quarterback Nico Iamaleava fired over the middle to Miles Kitselman for a touchdown to put the Vols up 21-10.
It was Iamaleava’s first touchdown of the game. And it sent the Vols into the fourth quarter with an 11-point lead.
The Vols dominated the third quarter, outgaining Kentucky 101-52, creating 2 takeaways, coming up with 2 sacks, and scoring 14 points. The damage could have been worse, too, if not for a missed 34-yard field goal on the opening drive of the quarter.
Tennessee is looking to move to 7-1 on the season and stay in the thick of the SEC Championship race.
