Tennessee lands commitment from Auburn basketball transfer

Justin Powell is staying in the SEC. On Saturday morning, the departing Auburn guard announced his commitment to Tennessee.

Powell leaves The Plains after one injury-shortened season. He played in 10 games for the Tigers, averaging 11.7 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.7 assists over 27.5 minutes per game. He missed AU’s final 17 games after suffering a concussion on Jan. 2 against Texas A&M.

On the 247Sports Composite, Powell was rated 3-stars, the No. 3 Kentucky product, No. 30 shooting guard and No. 185 prospect overall in the class of 2020. He was listed at 6-5, 180 pounds as a recruit. The Auburn roster lists him at 6-6, 205.

Powell entered the transfer portal on March 9.
