Tennessee added a big brick toward its 2017 recruiting class Wednesday evening as four-star linebacker Will Ignont gave his verbal commitment to the Vols.

Ignont recently took his first visit to the Tennessee campus for the Alabama game. Needless to say, the visit went well. The Alabama native projects as an inside linebacker at the college level and should fill a big need for the Volunteer defense, as the Vols will lack options at inside linebackers beyond Darrin Kirkland Jr., Colton Jumper and Gavin Bryant in 2017.

The 6-foot-2, 230-pound New Market, Ala., native rates as the No. 6 inside linebacker in the nation and the No. 8 prospect from the state of Alabama, according to 247Sports. Ignont committed to the Vols over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, Florida State, among others.

Following Ignont’s commitment, Tennessee is now back up to 25 total commits for the 2017 recruiting class. The Vols’ latest recruiting class currently ranks as one of the nation’s 10 best heading into November and the latest addition is sure to help solidify that lofty ranking.
