Tennessee is a No. 1 seed in Joe Lunardi’s latest bracketology update.

The longtime ESPN analyst updated his bracket projection on Tuesday morning. The Vols moved up to the top line following their 80-70 road win over Wisconsin on Friday. They are now 2-0 on the season.

Tennessee is joined by Purdue, Arizona and Kansas as the other No. 1 seeds in the field.

There’s still a lot of work to do, but Tennessee has looked like a legitimate national championship contender in the early going. Transfer Dalton Knecht has been excellent to start the year, averaging 20.5 points per game on 53.8% shooting from the field.

Tennessee is joined by 7 SEC programs in Lunardi’s latest update. Overall, the SEC’s 8 teams in the field of 68 is second only to the Big Ten (9 teams) in this update.

Tennessee has never been a No. 1 seed in program history. The Vols have been a No. 2 seed on multiple occasions, including under coach Rick Barnes in the 2019 NCAA Tournament.

Tennessee will host Wofford on Tuesday night.
