Tennessee loses another defensive starter to transfer portal, per report
Tennessee cornerback Doneiko Slaughter is expected to enter the transfer portal, according to a report.
That news was first shared by 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz on Friday afternoon. Slaughter started 7 games for the Vols this season. He contributed 63 tackles during his 2 seasons with Tennessee.
Slaughter is the second Tennessee defensive starter to enter the transfer portal of the day. Edge rusher Tyler Baron also entered the transfer portal on Friday after posting career-best numbers across the board in 2023.

Slaughter initially joined Tennessee as part of the 2020 recruiting class. He spent 4 seasons in Knoxville before deciding to enter the transfer portal.
Slaughter finished the 2023 campaign with a career-high 32 tackles. He was also credited with 1 tackle for loss. The lone interception of his career came during the 2022 season.
Once Slaughter officially enters the portal, he will be the 8th Tennessee player to do so this offseason.
Tennessee will close out the 2023 season by facing Iowa in the Citrus Bowl on Jan. 1.
