College football fans are a passionate bunch, especially in the SEC.

But one Tennessee fan goes above and beyond to honor his late father, who was a big Volunteers fan.

According to WATE TV, Jamie Beckler paints a checkerboard pattern on his father Rickey’s grave before Tennessee rivalry games:

“He wasn’t real big on flowers. So, we thought of this and this became a tradition,” said Beckler.

Beckler said he hopes his father is looking down on the Vols this year and enjoying the special season:

“Hope he’s watching down and rooting for them, especially this season,” said Beckler.

No. 9 Tennessee hosts No. 1 Alabama at 2:30 p.m. Central time today. The game can be seen on CBS.
