It’s official: Cade Mays is coming to Tennessee after all.

A former 5-star recruit who was once committed to the Vols, Mays is leaving Georgia for Tennessee. The Vols’ addition of the 6-foot-6, 318-pound offensive lineman was made official with an announcement on Thursday:

Mays was one of the top players in Tennessee’s 2018 recruiting class, before he opted to flip to Georgia following the firing of former Vols head coach Butch Jones. Tennessee hired Jeremy Pruitt, and Mays decided to go play for the Bulldogs under Kirby Smart.

However, Georgia lost offensive line coach Sam Pittman this offseason, as he left to become the head coach at Arkansas. So now, Mays is leaving to join the Vols, who signed his younger brother, Cooper, as part of their 2020 recruiting class.

Mays played in all 14 of Georgia’s games in 2019, making 11 starts. He saw time at every position on the offensive line, which included playing six games at right guard, two at right tackle, two at left guard and one at left tackle.

The addition of Mays will certainly be a boost to Tennessee’s offensive line in the future.
