Tennessee quarterback Brian Maurer wasn’t a full participate in Tennessee’s practice Tuesday, but he dressed and did some individual drills according to The Athletic’s David Ubben.

Meanwhile, redshirt freshman quarterback J.T. Shrout received the first-team reps.

Maurer left Saturday’s game at Alabama with a concussion. It was the second straight week he couldn’t finish a game because of a head injury. Junior Jarrett Guarantano replaced Maurer, but he made a major mistake, fumbling near the goal line. That apparently has opened the door for Shrout to start this week against South Carolina.

Shrout played the final series against Alabama on Saturday with the Volunteers trailing by more than 20.

In five games, Maurer has completed 49.1 percent of his passes for 426 yards, two touchdowns and five interceptions. Shrout is 3 of 10 for 23 yards this season.
