Tennessee radio host rips Vols on Twitter after loss: 'I'm not sure Jeremy Pruitt or the players truly care'
Chad Withrow is a radio host for 104.5 The Zone in Nashville, where he talks about Tennessee sports.
On Saturday, after the Vols lost 38-30 to the Georgia State Panthers, Withrow was among the many Vol fans who were upset about everything.
As you can see in the series of tweets below, Withrow questioned whether this year’s Vols actually cared about winning at all:
Phillip Fulmer cares about Tennessee Football. I’m not sure Jeremy Pruitt or the players truly care after today. They have 11 games to prove me wrong.

To me, it’s pretty definitive. This is the lowest point in the modern history of Tennessee Football.

Congrats to everyone on here that hates Vol fans everywhere. I think 60% of the fanbase died today. Complete apathy and lifelessness and who can blame them?

So, does he think Pruitt will be fired after the season? Not exactly:
Here’s my question: Let’s say Tennessee goes 3-9 this year. Do you think Fulmer is really going to fire the guy he hired after Year 2??? I don’t think there is anything that could happen for Pruitt to lose his job this year unless it’s off field.

So that’s basically the state of the Tennessee program this Sunday morning. It’s a rough time to be a Vol fan, as this was a game many were penciling in as a win.
It’s quite obvious from his attitude that he didn’t care (see halftime and postgame interviews). I would hope a guy with his experience would know you’re not getting future opportunities if you just mail it in. His apathy looked like something from Last Chance U.
How you feel about Jim Chaney now, Vawl?
LMAO!
I can’t speak for every other Vol fan, but I feel the same way about him as I did his first time here. This ain’t our first rodeo with the guy. Respect your elders.
same guy Vols jocked all summer after he got whipped by Vandy…
You know he doesn’t care. He is here for the money. Even Dooley coached better, and that’s hard to say.
after seeing his press conference it is clear the man just does not care. how many people out there right now would give everything to be a head coach in the NCAA and he acts like it is bagging groceries at wal-mart. i would fire his @s$ right now because his attitude isn’t going to change.
$3 million plus a year and a heck of a buy out. Why would he care. I think he came for a retirement check. Stop hiring these Saban assistant baffoons who clearly can’t coach on their own. You figure they learned after Dooley. I don’t think even Kirby Smart is that good. Jawja has as much or more talent that Bama and they still can’t win a NC.
If you think Kirby is not good then you dont know anything about football… Lol your an idiot!
You’re
lmao at trouble9732… sound like a Georgia fan… imagine getting called out on grammatical errors by a Vols fan hahaha
sorry Bama fan…still works
I am a bama fan and I dont like the way Tennessee is. I grew up here on the bama/tn line and it was a great rivalry game growing up, now its like facing duke… Pruitt will get them back in shape but its going to take time and I mean several years.. No one can go in and fix Tennessee in a season or two, and anyone who thinks thats possible doesnt understand football.. Pruitt has got to try and start getting some good recruits in there and build up. At this point he still has recruits left from the previous administration, also with the last several years of terrible play can you even imagine how hard it is to recruit new kids? Tennessee will make a good come back if they keep Pruit long enough but its not going to be an over night fix. Give him 4 or 5 years and maybe we will start to see a decent Tennessee team again. Also lets not forget, Pruit took this job when NO ONE else would!! Hes a great coach but hes not a miracle worker. He is also the best Tennessee could get. Only one that would have been better was Lane Kiffen and all you Tennessee fans bit**ed and moaned when he was mentioned, so now you have who you have, shut up and give the man time to work.
I hope he succeeds as well but it’s obvious the man doesn’t care. I’ve never seen someone with such apathy after being given such high compensation and a chance to develop a name as a head coach. I truly hope this is one of those flukes teams can rally around, but that would require something above the apathy we’ve seen from Pruitt. If this isn’t what he wants or is something he believes he can’t do, he needs to man up and resign. Mailing it in for paychecks is cowardice.
UT has averaged a top 15 class over the past 4 years. They have 3 five star guys on that OL (and several 4*). The issue wasn’t talent.
You hit the nail on the head. The talent is there. Being out of place, missed assigments, blown coverages, missed tackles….I could go on and on are all bad coaching. And Pruitt is supposed to be a defense guru. I dont see it.
Contrarian thought: UT would be better off without Fulmer, who has never gotten over being terminated and has managed to worm his way back into the school’s affairs. Yes, he had success and, yes, he loves his alma mater. But that doesn’t mean he’s qualified to remedy what’s going on at the school now. UT needs some fresh blood in the AD slot, with a proven track record as an AD (which Fulmer does not have) and experience hiring a top-tier head football coach (ditto to above). There simply appears to be a deeply dug-in morale problem in the football locker room that would benefit from a fresh set of eyes taking a look at it and recommending a remedy. As long as Fulmer’s there in his current position, that’s not going to happen.
We tried getting fresh blood at AD. But look what that got us. One of the biggest head coach hiring fiascos of all time.
Your last AD, just before he was canned by your BOT had his hands on Mike Leach. And it got him fired. As long as Tennessee is a house divided, stupid and weird and unexplained phenomenons will continue to occur.
Pretty sure it’s going to take a “Men in Black” type intervention at this point.
My thoughts exactly, ‘licious. UT’s administrative culture is entirely too parochial, and an “intervention” is long past due. Can’t imagine any influential UT donors being able to take this train wreck much longer….but the root cause is a step or two above Pruitt.
Mike Leach would have also lost to Georgia State, the only difference is he’d have made barking noises or something at his press conference.
I agree with this. Fuller is a great guy and did great things for UT as a head coach. But that doesn’t make him qualified to be an AD.
You can’t lose to Ga. St. It’s unacceptable for any P5 team.
Why is anyone surprised… these clowns loved Dooley and Butch Jones too before they didn’t… RIP Puke Orange
