Tennessee releases thrilling video recap of win over Oklahoma
Tennessee got the outcome it wanted during Josh Heupel’s homecoming on Saturday, defeating the Oklahoma Sooners, 25-15 in his homecoming in Norman.
The Volunteers recently released a video recap of the victory, captioned with “Our best is still out in front of us.” It features scenes from the flight into Oklahoma, conversations had in the locker room, highlights from the victory and more.
“Tennessee and Oklahoma, one of the best games of the year, one we’ve had circled for, gosh, since Oklahoma headed into the league and we got the schedule,” it began. “This is one with Josh Heupel returning back to Norman and two teams that run tons of tempo offensively. It’s going to be as fastball type of game, this is going to be a blast.”

And a blast it was indeed for Tennessee as the Volunteers and quarterback Nico Iamaleava made a statement against the Sooners after some had questioned just how legitimate of a team they were because of the ease of schedule they had encountered up to that point.
Tennessee will look to keep things rolling as it faces Arkansas on Oct. 5.
Look out UT the hogs are hungry!
“UT is an elite team.” …with 22,17,10,14 ranked classes. Just imagine whats coming.
Yeah, there is no question, this team has all the elements you need to be a title contender. If you’re looking for a weakness, maybe the injuries to the offensive line would be a potential problem. But the depth of this team makes a huge difference. We haven’t had that in years, decades maybe. Tennessee has often, in the last 25 years or so, had a good quarterback or a good offensive line, or a good tailback, or a good receiver or two, or a good defensive line, or a couple good linebackers, or a good secondary, or good special teams play, and on and on. We’ve even had a few years in the last 25 where we had 2 or 3 of those things at the same time. But the reason this team is a contender and this program is on the rise is because we’re seeing all of those things at the same time, and with depth across the board.
The other part of this, and the reason I think we’re seeing the program take off, is that Heupel is not just recruiting pretty well, he’s developing these guys and he’s developing a culture of pushing players to become better versions of themselves. And we already saw this in previous seasons- these guys are improving on their own time. Now, that SHOULD happen in every program and it should be happening for all these players, especially the ones who have any aspirations for the NFL, but it’s not as common as it should be. What I’ve seen is Heupel’s program here getting max effort and on-field performance from guys, so 3-star guys look like 4-stars and the 4-star guys playing like 5-star talent. That is what makes a great program.
The haters looked at last season and thought the program took a step back, but I would say last season’s issues were all about Joe Milton not being able to make plays. I loved Milton and think he’s a great guy, but he couldn’t make those deep route throws (overthrows constantly) and even the mid-range and short passes were often off target. So, we couldn’t sustain drives and the quick scoring plays just weren’t there. That left our defense on the field way too long, and we didn’t have the same depth as this season. If it weren’t for that, most would have seen Tennessee as a serious threat this season. But we’re seeing it now. I know the haters here really hate this, but I believe UT under Heupel is truly back. Now that the recruiting is improving even more, look out! It’s great to be a Tennessee Vol right now! :)
