Tiyon Evans was off to a great start this season until an ankle injury sidelined him for several weeks in the second half of the season.

But the Knox News reported that the running back has entered the transfer portal after he became Tennessee’s leading rusher with 525 yards and 6 touchdowns, and ahead of Saturday’s game against Vanderbilt.

Evans seemed to hit his stride with a second straight 100-yard game with 119 yards on 16 carries, including a 45-yard TD run in the second quarter in a win over South Carolina. But he missed 3 of the next 5 games, and only had one carry against Kentucky on Nov. 6.

The junior from Hartsville, S.C. came to Tennessee after he was the No. 1-rated junior college running back and No. 3-ranked junior college player overall by the 247Sports Composite by way of Hutchinson (Kansas) Community College.
