Tennessee transfer QB now set for return to Vols after just two weeks
It was just two weeks ago that Tennessee redshirt freshman quarterback Sheriron Jones decided to transfer. He had his destination picked out and everything.
Now, Jones has been released from his scholarship at Colorado and seems poised to return to Tennessee.
Buffaloes head coach Mike MacIntyre made the announcement on Friday, saying that he and Jones came to the conclusion that a return to Knoxville would be in the quarterback’s best interest.
Here’s the statement in full posted by Adam Munsterteiger of BuffStampede.com, which mentions the NCAA rule that allows a player to return to the school he transferred from if done within a two-week period:

Hmm. This is weird. Any Vols fans have some insight as to what might be happening here? This is the first time I’ve even heard of the two week rule, let alone seen it used.
Got me. But it has family issues written all over it.
It appears that he transferred thinking he’d have the opportunity to see some playing time down the line. However, after he transferred, it looks like Colorado continued to recruit some QBs, one of which committed. Jones didn’t like that he was given the run around. Seems like they convinced him to transfer with a promise of play time or at least competing for the starting role, only for them then to try to recruit someone else instead. Can’t blame the kid. He wants his chance. He is leaving Tennessee because there are just too many other QBs in line here. He went to CU to avoid that, but then the team started stacking up on QBs behind his back. He didn’t want to transfer only to get put into the same situation. Might as well stay at a better team if you are gonna be riding the bench.
This guy has a lot of talent — glad he realized that the grass, ahem, is not always greener in Colorado. It was a close competition for back-up last year, and QD had a head-start on SJ, having gotten to campus earlier.
Let this be a lesson to recruits holding out till signing day. Lol
This is just rediculous.
This guy must be a moron
You looking in a mirror or something?
