Kodi Burns appears to have officially landed on Rocky Top.

Days after it was reported that the former Auburn assistant would be joining Josh Heupel’s Tennessee staff, Burns tweeted the Go Big Orange hashtag. Burns has also updated his Twitter account’s bio section to read WR Coach – University of Tennessee #Blurrr! #GBO.”

A member of Auburn’s 2010 BCS National Championship squad, Burns has been in coaching since 2012 as a graduate assistant at Arkansas State under Gus Malzahn. From 2016-20 he was Auburn’s wide receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator. In 2019, Burns added the title of passing game coordinator.

Heupel had his sights set on working with Burns before taking the Tennessee job. In late January, it was reported that Burns was heading to UCF to be the Knights’ wide receivers coach. New Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin opted to not retain Burns, hiring former Troy assistant Cornelius Williams.
