Tennessee may finally have a team capable of reaching the Final Four.

The 15-1 Volunteers blew out another conference opponent on Tuesday evening, beating Arkansas 106-87 in Thompson-Boling Arena. Tennessee’s incredible margins of victory following the first four games of SEC play have been historically good and now the Vols have reached another milestone — the No. 1 national ranking in CBS Sports’ college basketball rankings.

The full rankings written by Gary Parrish can be viewed here and feature Auburn at No. 12, Ole Miss at No. 19, Kentucky at No. 20 and Mississippi State at No. 21. Gonzaga, which Tennessee has beaten, is at No. 4, while Kansas, the only team to defeat Tennessee this season, is No. 5.

Here is what Parrish had to say about putting Tennessee at the top spot of his weekly rankings:

Tennessee entered Tuesday night’s game with Arkansas on a 10-game winning streak featuring one blowout after another. So it should not have been too surprising when the Vols blasted the Razorbacks because that’s more or less what Rick Barnes’ team has been doing to nearly everybody.

UT is 15-1 with 14 double-digit wins.

Tennessee’s next game is Saturday at home against 10-5 Alabama.
