Tennessee’s drop in top 25, out of CFP bracket draws strong reaction on social media

Tennessee’s College Football Playoff outlook is uncertain with the new CFP committee top 25.

The Volunteers dropped to No. 11 in the rankings after falling to Georgia. With the top 5 conference champions receiving Playoff bids, Tennessee would be the first team out if these rankings were being used to determine the 12-team field.

This is the same position Georgia was in a week ago. By beating Tennessee, the Bulldogs have moved up to No. 10 overall, and the potential 11-seed.

There are still 2 more weeks of the regular season plus conference championship weekend games to shake up the rankings. Vol Nation, though, is understandably uncertain about whether Tennessee will be able to move up. Josh Heupel’s team faces UTEP in Week 13 before closing out against in-state rival Vanderbilt.

For many Vols, it’s particularly frustrating to be looking up at Alabama, considering the results of the Third Saturday in October. Here’s a small sample of what’s being said on social media after the rankings reveal:
