Immediately following National Signing Day, Jeremy Pruitt has made a change to his Tennessee coaching staff.

Former Tennessee standout defensive back and NFL player Terry Fair has been relieved of his duties coaching the cornerbacks in Knoxville. This news was first reported by Austin Price of Volquest, the Tennessee Rivals’ affiliate. It is unclear at this time if Pruitt already has a replacement hire ready to join the Tennessee staff in Knoxville.

Following the offseason departure of safeties coach and special teams coordinator Charles Kelly to Alabama, Pruitt was down to just Fair in terms of a defensive backs coach. Until last season, Prutt and Fair had not worked together. Fair was hired away from Colorado State by Pruitt in December of 2017.

Of course, aside for his knowledge of overall team defense, Pruitt is known for his expertise coaching defensive backs. Following a college playing career at defensive back, Pruitt went on to learn how to coach the position working under Nick Saban and Kirby Smart at Alabama.

With Kelly and Fair gone, Pruitt will now be searching for someone that he knows can coach his secondary and someone that can handle a head coach overseeing that same position group with a keen eye.
