Tim Banks felt good about how the Tennessee secondary stacked up against Kentucky at Tuesday’s presser without Kamal Hadden.

The Vols gave up 372 yards passing to the Wildcats in the 33-27 win. Hadden had season-ending surgery for an undisclosed injury he picked up against Alabama.

Hadden had 3 interceptions and 19 total tackles on the year before the injury. Banks noted how the secondary played hard and put the team in a position to win the game.

“Obviously Kamal was a big part of what we did the majority of the season. It’s obviously a shame that the kid won’t have a chance to finish what he did. I felt good,” said Banks. “The guys played hard. Obviously, there’s some things we can all do better, but I thought overall that those guys competed and gave us a great opportunity to win the game, which we obviously did.”

Tennessee faces UConn before playing a tough Missouri team that could create problems for its the secondary. Luther Burden III has been on fire this year and could do some damage to the depleted Vols secondary.

Kickoff for the UConn game with be at noon ET on SEC Network.
