We already knew that Tennessee would be without linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin today at undefeated Texas A&M.

However, news broke a few hours before kickoff in College Station that Reeves-Maybin is opting for surgery on his left biceps and shoulder, which will finish his season. As a senior, his Volunteers career is over.

UT has dealt with injuries to a lot of key defenders already in 2016 despite its 5-0 start. Not only Reeves-Maybin, but fellow standout linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. has been banged up for quite some time, too. The Vols are also without the services of cornerback — not to mention ace punt returner — Cameron Sutton.

The loss of Reeves-Maybin is a killer, though. He was the leading tackler on this defense for each of the past two seasons. The 6-foot-1, 230-pounder was a triple-digit tackler and sideline-to-sideline force.

Be sure to watch the video above for some quick commentary on the loss of Reeves-Maybin and how it will affect Tennessee.
