The battle to replace outgoing Tennessee QB Joshua Dobbs is a two-man battle between junior Quinten Dormady and redshirt freshman Jarrett Guarantano.

During Saturday’s spring game at Neyland Stadium, though, Dormady got off to a hot start on his opening drive, capping it off with a short touchdown pass to WR Jauan Jennings:

The better pass on Dormady’s opening drive was a wheel route to TE Ethan Wolf that brought the squad down to the 2-yard line:

Dormady finished the drive 5-for-5 for 51 yards and the touchdown pass to Jennings.

It’s still early, but that’s a strong opening argument for Dormady in the quest to replace Dobbs in 2017. Guarantano still has a lot of time left to respond, though.
