Tennessee managed to keep one of the state’s top prospects home in the 2021 recruiting cycle as Brentwood High School standout Walker Merrill has just announced his commitment to Jeremy Pruitt’s program. Merrill announced his commitment in a video released by Rivals.

The 6-foot-1, 176-pound Brentwood native picked the Volunteers over LSU, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Duke and Wake Forest. 247Sports Composite Rankings list Merrill as a three-star prospect, the No. 11 prospect from Tennessee and the No. 371 overall prospect in the nation for the 2021 recruiting cycle.

Merrill’s primary recruiter at Tennessee is receivers coach, Tee Martin.

Following this news, Tennessee now holds nine commitments for the 2021 recruiting class after adding its second pledge in as many days. On Monday, three-star North Carolina running back Jaylen Wright announced his commitment to join Pruitt’s program.

The Volunteers’ 2021 recruiting class now ranks 13th nationally after adding Walker to the class.
