A new trend that has taken over college football this year (thanks to Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield) is road teams trying to plant their team’s flag at midfield after big road victories.

However, after Vanderbilt beat Tennessee at Neyland Stadium on Saturday evening, the Vols weren’t about to let their home field be disrespected like that.

As you can see in the video below, the Vols, led by DB Micah Abernathy, stopped a group of Commodores from planting their flag. The video, posted on Twitter by Jordan Dajani, contains some NSFW language, but it was an important moment for the Vols:

No, this season hasn’t gone according to plan for Tennessee, but it’s nice to see the players have some pride in the Tennessee name and protect their 50-yard line.

The defense should have just played better to defend their home turf, but it was a good sign that the players are still willing to fight for the name on the front of their jerseys instead of just the name on the back of the uniform.
