Every Sunday during the college football season, ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum joins SportsCenter, where anchor Matt Barrie forces him to say something positive about a team he’s bashed that week.

This week, it was Finebaum’s alma mater in the spotlight, as Barrie asked him to say something nice about coach Butch Jones and the Tennessee Volunteers.

As you can see in the segment below, Finebaum is impressed that Tennessee put up nine points against South Carolina after being shut out by Georgia at home two weeks ago:

“He’s bringing the program to a point where ultimately — not this week against Alabama, probably, but maybe a couple weeks later — we might score a touchdown,” Finebaum deadpans.

It’s a tough time to be a Tennessee fan, and Finebaum is right — this weekend’s game against Alabama won’t be easy.

A big loss may spell the end of the Butch Jones era, so it may be tougher for Finebaum to be positive at this time next week.
