As Jeremy Pruitt made his way around the Tennessee roster and depth chart, he stopped to emphasize the wide receiver position.

Tennessee has four seniors at that position, and after repeating that fact, Pruitt at SEC Media Days stopped for a moment to speak with prospective recruits. Pruitt first noted that four of the 12 seniors are wide receivers.

“If I was a wide receiver in high school, Tennessee would be a great landing spot in the future,” Pruitt said. “I’m going to say it again. Four of them are wide receivers, so if I was a wide receiver in high school Tennessee would be a great landing spot for the future.”

Marquez Callaway, Jauan Jennings, Tyler Byrd, Brandon Johnson are the seniors that Pruitt will lean on for leadership and experience that is lacking around Rocky Top. Combine that group with the experienced quarterback in Jarrett Guarantano, and that group has to have a big impact on the Vols this season. Byrd was the only player who didn’t see action in all 12 games in 2018.

Callaway was the only receiver on the team in the top 20 in receiving in the conference last year as he led the team with 37 catches for 592 yards and two touchdowns.
