Arch Manning saw limited action at Texas this season as he was primarily the 3rd-string quarterback. Most of Manning’s action came against Texas Tech when he was 2-for-5 passing for 30 yards.

At Sugar Bowl Media Day on Saturday, Manning reflected on his regular season, and what he expects against Washington as he’s listed as the backup QB after Maalik Murphy entered the transfer portal and eventually landed at Duke.

“I guess your first time you’re always going to be a little bit nervous, I had a lot of adrenaline,” he said. “It was nice being up like 50 my first game, so it wasn’t too much on the line. But it was cool. I’ve never heard a crowd get that hyped up for a second or third-string. So I guess it was pretty cool.”

Manning admitted that he was glad to get things like a fumbled snap out of the way as he prepares for a more meaningful game. While he prepares each week as if he’s the starter, being closer to going in the game is a different reality.

“Now that you know you’re just one play away instead of 2, there’s a little more to worry about, not to worry about, but just to be prepared for,” he said.
