Arch Manning is getting his shot in one of the biggest games of the season. Unfortunately, he’ll have to try and climb Texas out of a massive hole against Georgia.

Hosting No. 5 Georgia, Quinn Ewers and the top-ranked Longhorns have struggled in a major way. Some miscues combined with early turnovers have led to the Bulldogs racing out to a 20-0 lead in Austin and threatening for more ahead of halftime.

Those early struggles led Texas to go with Manning late in the 2nd quarter for at least one drive. While The Longhorns did get a first down via a penalty on Georgia, that drive also stalled out, so we will have to see if Manning gets another shot to generate some offense against the Bulldogs.

The first half has not been starting QB with Georgia’s Carson Beck and Ewers combined for 3 first-half interceptions and 4 total turnovers. However, the difference in the game has been Georgia’s ability to actually move the ball and dominate the battle of field position.

In fact, all 4 of Georgia’s scoring drives have covered just 85 yards of offense, but Ewers’ struggles offensively have contributed to that. Outside of Ewers’ 2 turnovers, Texas had a trio of 3-and-outs before the move to go to Manning.

Manning’s drive with the offense has been the most productive with 7 plays and 26 yards, but that will not do much without some actual points on the board. Texas will have to take things one play at a time and hope Manning can provide enough of a spark to deliver some opportunities to get back into the game.
