Derion Gullette is taking his talents to Austin. Steve Sarkisian’s Texas program landed a commitment from the 4-star in-state linebacker on Friday.

Gullette, who will finish out high school at Teague (Texas), announced his verbal pledge to the Longhorns via his Twitter account.

Gullette is listed at 6-2, 220 pounds. On the 247Sports composite rankings, Gullette is rated 4-stars, the No. 18 edge defender, No. 27 Lone Star State recruit and No. 149 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2023.

During his recruitment, Gullette has picked up 28 scholarship offers. In April, Gullette shared a top group of Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Miami, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon and Texas, Texas A&M and USC. On July 14, Gullette shared that Texas, Ohio State and Texas A&M were his final 3. He visited all 3 schools in June.

With Gullette on board, Texas now has 21 commitments in its 2023 recruiting class, which ranks No. 5 nationally.

Gullette was a standout on both sides of the ball in his junior season at Marlin (Texas).
