Greg McElroy has made his pick for Friday night’s crucial matchup between Texas and Ohio State in the College Football Playoff semifinals.
McElroy is picking the Buckeyes but indicated he expects to be a close game. With Texas as a 6-point underdog according to most sports betting apps, McElroy said he’s leaning toward taking the points.
“I think this game could go down to the wire,” McElroy said before saying he expects a lower-scoring affair. “I’m taking Ohio State. However, I don’t think Ohio State runs them out of the gym. I think this one comes down to the wire. And if you’re thinking about it from that perspective, you probably take the points.
“I think Texas is being a little under-valued and I think everybody and their brother seems to think that Ohio State is just going run away with this thing. I think they’ll win it, but I think it’ll be a tight one there in Dallas.”
Here’s a clip from McElroy’s prediction:
The winner of Friday night’s Cotton Bowl will take on Notre Dame in the championship game on Jan. 20 in Atlanta. Regardless of who wins on Friday night, Notre Dame is expected to be the underdog in the national championship game.
