Quinn Ewers will not play on Saturday against Mississippi State as he continues to recover from an abdominal injury.

Ewers is listed as out on Texas’ availability report, which was finalized at about 2:45 p.m. ET on Saturday. This will be the second straight missed game for Ewers after he initially suffered an injury vs. UTSA earlier this month.

Here’s a full look at Texas’ availability report:

ESPN’s Pete Thamel previously reported that Ewers was unlikely to play against the Bulldogs.

By holding out Ewers for another game, he will have a full 3 weeks of rest heading into the Red River Rivalry vs. Oklahoma on Oct. 12. The Longhorns have an open date next weekend in Week 5.

With Ewers out, Texas will turn to Arch Manning for his second straight start. Manning had an up-and-down game last week vs. Louisiana-Monroe in his first-ever start at the collegiate level. He threw a pair of interceptions in what turned out to be a 51-3 victory for UT.

Texas will be looking for a bit more consistency out of Manning this weekend against Mississippi State — and will be hoping that Ewers is healthy enough to return to the lineup in 2 weeks vs. the Sooners.
