Quinn Ewers is expected to remain with Texas this week despite an erroneous report that claimed he had chosen to opt out and prepare for the NFL Draft.

On Monday afternoon, the 247Sports Instagram page shared the following message about Ewers’ future:

The post was quickly deleted by the media company, but not before news spread on social media. Within an hour, outlets such as ESPN and On3 labeled the report as false.

Pete Thamel noted that Ewers was at practice today for the Longhorns and is fully committed to the team:

According to a message board post made by Horns247’s Jeff Howe shortly after the incident, it’s believed that 247’s Instagram page was hacked. Howe said a “bad actor” has been targeting 247’s social media accounts:

The company confirmed it was hacked on its Instagram page: “The 247Sports Instagram account was hacked earlier today with a fabricated report on Quinn Ewers. We regret any negative impact.”

The fabricated report comes as Texas is trying to pick itself up off the mat following its 30-15 loss to Georgia on Saturday night in Austin. Ewers was briefly benched in the game for redshirt freshman Arch Manning, although he did return to action in the second half.

In any case, Ewers and the Longhorns still have plenty to fight for in 2024. Texas will go on the road to face Vanderbilt in Week 9.
