Steve Sarkisian let it all out after Texas lost to Washington in the Sugar Bowl.

Sarkisian pointed to how the fight that Texas showed went back to the caliber of people on the team at the post-game press conference.  The Longhorns were down 34-21 at the start of the 4th quarter and battled back to make it a 1-score game with 1:09 remaining.

“The resiliency our team showed in that 4th quarter to find an opportunity to win the game, I think is indicative of the character we have on this team and the men that we have in that locker room,” said Sarkisian. “Those guys are fighters. As bleak as it looked there, they never gave up hope and they believed and that’s how you give yourself a chance in the end.”

At the end of the day, Sarkisian sympathized with his players because how much of the players bought in. Sarkisian was still extremely proud of the Longhorns.

“I feel for them because I know how much they poured into this entire season. But, like I told them in the locker room, we came into this season to be champions and we are. They’re Big 12 champions and they are, they were a second away from playing for a national championship. There’s a lot to be proud of this football team.”

Now that the season is over, Texas can start prepping for its move to the SEC.
