He was previously included in UT’s 2026 recruiting class. Hicks shared that decision with On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Tuesday afternoon:

Hicks is one of the best recruits in the country. He has offers from places such as Michigan, Tennessee, Clemson, Notre Dame and plenty more elite programs.
Hicks originally committed to Texas back in September. It seems he now intends to sign with the Longhorns with the Early Signing Period begins in December.
He joins a loaded Texas recruiting class that has been moving up the 2025 ranks. Hicks is the 22nd player to commit to Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns so far this cycle. He also becomes the third defensive back to join Texas’s 2025 class.
Overall, Texas’s class currently ranks No. 6 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings. With only weeks to go before the Early Signing Period, Texas seems to be in good position to sign a solid class this December.
